2025 Scholarship Application for Illinois Students

Eligibility:  Any law student currently enrolled as a 1-L or 2-L at an Illinois Law School may apply who shows a commitment to fostering and furthering the ideals of the Arab American Bar Association’s commitment to the Rule of Law, such as active participation in the MENA community or student organizations sensitive to inclusivity and diverse perspectives.  Students must be members of the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois (student membership is free). Scholarship funds in the amount of $2500 to $5000 will be sent to the awardee’s law school to be applied toward tuition.

Selection Criteria: Applicants will be selected for available scholarships based on their academic performance, financial need, Arab American community involvement, leadership, and dedication to the Rule of Law.

Application Process: The applicant must submit the following items to be considered for a scholarship. All application materials must be submitted online no later than March 15, 2025. Applicants will be notified for an interview with the Committee via Zoom.

1. Completed application form
2. Resume
3. Official transcript from your law school
4. Up to 2 letters of recommendation from individual(s) not related to you (e.g., professor/school official/community leader)
5. An essay of no more than 500 words discussing your commitment to diversity in the law and your experience as a diverse student

Special Notice to Applicants: Scholarships will be presented at the Arab American Bar Association Scholarship, Foundation’s Gala on April 26, 2025, at the Marriott Oak Brook Hotel. Recipients are required to be present to receive their award. Each recipient will receive a complimentary, non-transferable ticket for the Scholarship Gala.
